The “Girl, You Got This!” Project (2018-2026) – Adapting and Evaluating the Flip the Script with EAAA® program for Adolescent Girls

The purpose of this project, led by Sara Crann and Charlene Senn (Co-I Misha Eliasziw) was to 1) adapt the university program for teen girls and 2) test the effectiveness of the adapted program. Phase 1 involved two mixed-method studies and consultations with project partners and youth to adapt the EAAA program for the social and developmental context of adolescence. The adapted EAAA program (A-EAAA aka Girls – Flip the Script with EAAA®) is designed specifically for cis and trans girls between 14 and 18 years old (who have not graduated high school). Research reports from the Phase 1 studies are available online at “Girl, You Got This!” Project Report on Study 1 and “Girl, You Got This!” Project Report on Study 2. See the overview “EAAA™ sexual assault resistance program for teen girls” for more detail on the adapted program. Phase 2 evaluated the efficacy of the adapted program using a randomized controlled trial (RCT) with a wait-list control in three Ontario communities (Windsor-Essex, London-Middlesex, and Kingston-Frontenac). While we were delayed due to COVID, participant recruitment began in early 2023 and ended in fall 2024 (N = 309) with 1-year follow-up completed in the fall of 2025. Analyses are continuing and results are expected to be published within a year.
